Everything we make for hair: semi-permanent dye, bleach to prepare the base, root touch-up, and colour that washes out after a night. Made in our own UK factory since 1979 and never tested on animals. Our semi-permanent hair dyes and the Vegan Hair Bleach Kit are vegan; Root Touch Up Hair Mascara is not, and it is the only product here that covers grey, temporarily, until you shampoo it out.
What Is in the Stargazer Hair Range
Semi-Permanent Hair Dye
The semi-permanent hair dye range is the heart of what we do. It applies direct from the tube with no developer and nothing to mix, and it contains no ammonia, no peroxide and no PPD. Every shade is vegan and cruelty-free. It holds for roughly 5 to 10 washes on hair that has not been pre-lightened and 10 to 15 washes over bleach, and it conditions while it colours. It will not lighten your hair, and it will not cover white or grey. Six shades have relaunched in new 100ml tubes and are on pre-order now for late October: Magenta, Shocking Pink, Coral Blue, Royal Blue, Violet and Hot Red.
Bleach and Getting the Base Right
Bright and pastel shades only look like the tube on a pale base, so most colour jobs start with the Vegan Hair Bleach Kit, which is vegan and comes as a single application. Dark hair generally needs more than one session to reach pale blonde, spaced out rather than pushed through in one sitting. Strand test first and stop if the hair feels soft or stretchy. If you would rather not bleach at all, hair dye for dark hair covers the two shades that show on a dark base without lightening.
Root Touch-Up and Grey
The Root Touch Up Hair Mascara is a brush-on colour for regrowth and greys between full colour appointments, available in Black, Brown, Mid Brown, Blonde and Mid Blonde. It is the only product we make that covers grey, and it does so temporarily: it sits on the surface of the hair and comes out with one shampoo. Unlike our dyes, it is not vegan.
Temporary Colour and Glitter
For a night out rather than a fortnight, the Neon Wash Out Temporary Hair Colour Gel and the Neon Hair Mascara are both currently available in Neon Orange and Neon Yellow, and both come out with shampoo. Glitter Hair Spray goes over the top of any of it and brushes out. These are the products people buy for festivals, stage work and Halloween, when the colour needs to be gone by Monday.
