Chunky glitter for cheekbones

Chunky Face Glitter is the large flake one, and most festival looks are built on it, because a scattering of big flakes along the top of a cheekbone reads from a distance in a way fine shimmer does not. Ten shades, UV included. Put fixing gel down first, press the flakes in with a fingertip, and place them deliberately rather than shaking a cloud over your whole face. If you would rather avoid plastic film glitter, the Chunky Biodegradable Face Glitter is the same size flake made from rayon.

Festival glitter for hair

Glitter Hair Spray is the fastest thing in the range and our most popular festival hair product. It sprays on, it catches sunlight all day, and it comes out with normal shampoo, which matters when you are washing your hair at a standpipe. For something heavier, work clear gel through damp hair and shake Face Glitter over the roots and lengths, then leave it alone until it sets.

Getting ready in a tent

Face Glitter Gel is the one to pack if you are travelling light. It is cosmetic grade glitter in a gel base with a thin nozzle, so it goes on straight from the tube with a finger, without a primer, an adhesive or a brush. It dries to the touch quickly and it is sweatproof, which is the part that counts at two in the afternoon in July. The Quick Drying Glitter Fix Gel is the other half of the kit, for loose shaker glitter, and it comes with its own sponge applicator.

Glitter for eyes and lips

Sparkle Glitter Eyeliner gives you a glitter line along the lashes or above the crease, applied with a fine brush, and the glitter shifts colour slightly as you move. Over the top of an ordinary liner it reads as depth rather than a separate stripe. Glitter Lipstick does the equivalent job on the mouth, in gold, silver and red among other shades. Both are made in the UK. The Sparkle Glitter Eyeliner is vegan, the Glitter Lipstick is not.

Making it last, and getting it off

Fixing gel first, glitter second, thirty seconds to set. That order is most of the technique. Reapply properly in the evening rather than adding fresh glitter on top of glitter that has already shifted, because new gel over old flakes lifts the lot. Everything here washes off with soap and warm water and needs no specialist remover, though a flannel and some patience helps with chunky flakes. You will still be finding glitter on yourself on Tuesday, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
