Biodegradable Glitter
Two biodegradable glitters, both made in our UK workshop from rayon instead of plastic film, in six colours each. They shake, apply and wear like our standard glitter, and they break down over time rather than staying around as microplastic. Use them with a fixing gel if you want them to hold for a full night.
Plastic free glitter, made in the UK
Rayon instead of plastic film
Ordinary cosmetic glitter is cut from coated plastic film, which is why it goes nowhere once it has been washed down a drain. Both glitters on this page are made from rayon, a fibre that degrades over time, so there is no plastic left behind. That is the whole difference. The sparkle, the coverage and the colour payoff are the same as the plastic version, which is the part people tend not to believe until they have used it.
Fine and chunky, six colours each
Biodegradable Face Glitter is the standard cut and gives an even, high sparkle finish across a cheekbone or a collarbone. Chunky Biodegradable Face Glitter is large flake, for when you want individual pieces catching the light instead of an overall shimmer. Both are made in the same six colours, Fuschia, Gold, Silver, Sky, Turquoise and Violet, both are vegan, and both come in the same shaker pot as the rest of the range.
Applying it and washing it off
Rayon glitter behaves like any loose glitter, which is to say it wanders if you put it on bare dry skin. Lay down the Quick Drying Glitter Fix Gel first, press the glitter into it with a fingertip and give it half a minute. For a softer, more diffused effect, moisturise lightly and shake the glitter straight on, accepting that it will move around during the day. Both wash off with soap and warm water, and neither needs a specialist remover.
What biodegradable does not mean
Biodegradable describes what the material does over time under the right conditions, not what happens the moment it leaves your face. It will not vanish in your sink overnight, and it is not a reason to tip a pot into a river. It means that when it does end up in the environment, and glitter always does, it breaks down instead of sitting there as plastic for decades. That is a real difference, and we would rather describe it accurately than oversell it.
Trade, bulk and wholesale
We make our glitter ourselves in the UK and handle bulk and trade enquiries directly. If you are a shop, a festival supplier, a makeup artist buying in volume, or a brand looking at wholesale biodegradable glitter, get in touch and tell us what you need and roughly how much of it. It is easier to answer that properly than to guess from a price list.
If you want more colour choice and do not need the plastic free version, the face and body glitter collection runs to eighty shades. Glitter shakers gathers every loose pot in one place, and the festival glitter collection is the edit for festivals, which is where most of this gets worn.
