Vegan Makeup Collection
This page gathers the Stargazer products that contain no animal-derived ingredients. It is a selection rather than the whole line, because some of what we make uses lanolin, beeswax or carmine. Every Stargazer product is cruelty-free and made in the UK, and each product page states whether that product is vegan.
Vegan makeup, and which Stargazer products qualify
The lipsticks, the foundations and the powders contain animal-derived ingredients, mostly lanolin, beeswax and carmine. Everything we make is cruelty-free and made in the UK by three people, and every product page states whether that product is vegan. Below is the part that is, grouped by what people search for.
Vegan eye makeup
This is where the range is strongest. Neon Eye Dust Pigment is a loose hyper-pigmented eyeshadow powder rather than a pressed pan, which is exactly why the colour is so strong: there is no binder holding it back. It also fluoresces under blacklight. Long-Lasting Eyeliner Pen holds for up to 24 hours on a clean, dry lid, with a reversible felt nib for fine or broad lines, and Long-Lasting Brow Pen does the same for brows in a single stroke. Neon Liquid Eyeliner and Neon Mascara cover the brighter end. For sparkle on the lash line, Sparkle Glitter Eyeliner works alone or as a top coat over other eye makeup. The Eyeshadow and the Chubby Eyeshadow Stick are not vegan, and they are on the eye shadow page.
Vegan glitter, including the biodegradable kind
Cosmetic glitter is one of the places where a vegan claim changes the product rather than the label. Biodegradable Face Glitter is made from rayon rather than plastic, so it degrades over time, and Chunky Biodegradable Face Glitter is the large flake version. For standard cosmetic grade, Face Glitter comes in a shaker you can control, Chunky Face Glitter gives bigger flakes, Confetti Face Glitter mixes several sizes in one pot, and Shapes Face Glitter does hearts, butterflies, crescents and letters. All of it needs something underneath to hold it, so use the Mixing Medium to turn loose glitter or pigment into a spreadable paste.
Vegan setting spray and long-wear colour
Vegan setting spray is a common search with a short answer. Makeup Fixing Spray applies as a fine mist and contains aloe vera extract, glycerine and witch hazel, so it holds colour and cools the skin at the same time. It is the product that decides whether the pigment work above survives a night out. On lips, Long-Lasting Lip Stain Pen bonds to the lip surface instead of sitting on top, so it does not transfer onto cups or anyone else, and vitamin E in the formula stops the tightness stains usually cause. Define the edge first with Long-Lasting Lip Liner Pen. Our lipsticks are not vegan.
Costume and special effects work
People searching for vegan costume or special effects makeup are usually after something that draws cleanly on skin and stays put. Temporary Semi-Permanent Tattoo Pen holds a sharp line for hours. For hair, Neon Wash Out Temporary Hair Colour Gel lasts a single wash and works on any hair type. The Neon Face Paint is the obvious thing to reach for here.
What cruelty-free means here
No Stargazer product is tested on animals, by us or by anyone on our behalf, and we are PETA approved. It is made in the UK by three people rather than sourced from a contract manufacturer whose testing policy you would have to take on trust. Animal-derived ingredients are a separate question and the answer is not the same for every product, so each product page states it rather than the claim being made across the range. Several formulas are also paraben-free, stated the same way. If you are lightening hair before colour, the Vegan Hair Bleach Kit contains no animal-derived ingredients either, which is not a given in bleach.
To narrow things down, the vegan eye makeup collection holds the pigments, liners and mascaras on their own, vegan face and body covers glitter and the fixing products, vegan lip makeup has the stain and liner pens, and vegan hair covers the dyes and the bleach kit.
