Goth Makeup Range

Goth makeup at Stargazer, the original goth beauty brand since 1979. Whether you're building a classic trad goth look with black lipstick and white foundation, or experimenting with whimsigoth, pastel goth or romantic goth makeup, you'll find pieces here to suit each look. From striking goth eye makeup to long-lasting goth lip products, every piece is made to help you own your dark side.

Goth makeup, done properly

A great goth look lives or dies on two things: a flawless base and bold colour that lasts. Start with skin prep. A clean, lightly moisturised face holds makeup far better than skin that's too dry or too oily, then build a pale, even base rather than piling on product. Our white liquid foundation gives that porcelain, matte finish without going cakey, and it's been our best-selling goth base since we launched in 1979.

From there, it's all about contrast. A true black lipstick is the heart of the classic look, full-coverage and built to hold through a long night. Define the eyes with a sharp liquid eyeliner, or a smudged eyeliner pencil for a softer, lived-in finish, then deepen the socket with a dark eyeshadow.

Choosing a goth makeup brand

Most people searching for goth makeup brands end up sorting through mainstream ranges that happen to sell a dark shade, or Halloween lines that appear for six weeks a year. Stargazer has made alternative makeup in the UK since 1979, which means these are not seasonal products dressed up for October. If you are working out where to buy goth makeup that will still be here next year, that is the difference worth paying attention to. Our alt makeup range covers the wider alternative styles, the vampire makeup collection narrows it to the pale base and dark mouth, and the Halloween makeup range borrows from this one when the season comes round.

The best goth foundation is the one that is actually white

Most pale foundations are simply the lightest shade in a normal range, which reads as ill rather than deliberate. A proper gothic foundation is a true white you can mix down to the exact tone you want, and that is what ours is built to do. Use it neat for a full pale goth makeup look, or blend a small amount into your usual base to drop it a few shades. Set it with pressed powder, then bring the structure back with grey contour under the cheekbone, or the face stays flat under any kind of light.

Prefer something subtler? You don't need the full transformation to bring goth into your everyday. A semi-permanent eyeliner pen and a dark lip stain give a polished alternative that still reads you unmistakably. For a softer, romantic take, swap black for a deep berry lipstick and keep the eyes smoky rather than stark. The same palette carries eighties and nineties goth looks, trad goth, whimsigoth and pastel goth without needing different products.

Everything here is cruelty-free and made in the UK, the same goth beauty staples we've been making for over forty years. The white foundation, the powders, the lipsticks and the eyeshadows are not vegan. The Long-Lasting Eyeliner Pen is. Whether it's your first look or one you've worn for years, you'll find what you need to make it last and make it yours.
